With a history of pre-Civil War sailing regattas and being named the 1930s Playground of the South with Big Band music at Lumina pavilion, to its current fame as Best Small Beach Town with the best East Coast surfing and stand-up paddle boarding, Wrightsville Beach has quite a story to tell. The Bordeaux cottage currently houses the museum’s first chronological journey through the history of Wrightsville Beach – enhanced with early photos, video, and special memorabilia from the museum’s collection. Special attention is given to significant and interesting pieces of our rich beach history, including water sports and early bathing attire.
