Plein Air

We had a wonderful Plein Air 2019! The weather was beautiful, the artists were lively and the artwork was superb!!

 Art was purchased and now lovely  Wrightsville Beach landscapes hang all across town. Thank you for supporting the local artists and the museum!

Artists from near and far participated in our plein air event, showcasiBarbara Jamisonng some of their visions of Wrightsville Beach and the marshes by putting them to canvas. Artwork was freshly created over a couple of days and sold while the paint was drying, almost!







October 22, 2016: Wrightsville Beach Museum Plein Air. We had 16 artists paint Wrightsville Beach scenes over 3 days culminating in a festive and lively Wet Paint sale on the museum lawn.

June 5, 2016: Small Treasures of Old Wrightsville Beach: The museum invited 11 artists to participate in “Small Treasures of Old Wrightsville Beach” byStrabuck painting subjects from old Wrightsville Beach painted from life or vintage photos within a format of 9″x 16.” These lovely paintings were presented at the opening on June 5. The paintings remained hanging at the museum and offered for sale through August 15, 2016.

May 9, 2015:  Wrightsville Beach, N.C.: Plein air artists were invited to participate in the Wrightsville Beach Museum of History’s second plein air event.  To provide artists with a Best of groupvenue for plein air painting of this scenic, historic seaside town during perhaps its most beautiful time of year is always an exciting opportunity.  We encourage participation of the public in this event by inviting them to drop by and watch the artists as they paint. A portion of the sales of the works will support the museum. Up to 2 unsold pieces per artist were hung at the museum through the end of August, 2015.
